Rosa rubiginosa [Sweet briar - Eglantine Rose]

Habit: Vigorous 2-3 meter shrub with thick shoots and strong, initially stiffly upright basal shoots with arched tips.
Foliage: Deciduous, alternate, imparipinnate, 5 to 7 ovale or elliptic leaflets, 2 to 3 cm long,  dark green, densely covered in glands beneath, apple or wine-like scent.
Flower: Light pink to pink with dark veins, 3 to 5 cm wide, 1 to 3 flowers on bristly peduncles.
Site: Sun/ to light shade, hardy and robust, wind and frost tolerant.
Use: Hedge, wildlife plantings, windbreaks etc.
