Pinus mugo [Dwarf mountain pine]

Habit :  From 1 to 14 m. high, depending on the conditions. Introduced in Denmark in 1798
Needles: Dark green, 3-8 cm sitting in bundles
Flower: Reddish female buds and yellow male flowers. Cones are cone shaped and 4-5 cms long. They take 2-3 years to ripen

Site: Extremely hardy - probably the hardiest species in Denmark
Use:  As a pioneer tree under difficult conditions. Hedges and shrubbery, and as firewood and wood chips
