Chamaecyparis lawsoniana [Lawsons cypress/Port Orford Cedar]

Habit: Large tree, 20 m high.
Needles:  Scale-like, feathery foliage in flat sprays. Dark on the upper side – blue-green with white markings on the underside.
Flower:  The male pollen cones are small and black – maturing to a rich carmine purple. The female pollen cones are blueish to purple and the seed cones are round, brown and 2 to 5 millimeter.
Site:  Thrives best in a moist and sheltered position in the shade.
Use:  Forestry, parks and greenery
